Located in Bend, Oregon, Crater Lake Spirits was founded in 1986 by Jim Bendis and Alan Dietrich (who remains CEO today). From the start their focus was on producing spirits in small batches using, as much as possible, local ingredients. And the operation makes every effort to be environmentally friendly, using recycled products for packaging and composting all spent grain and fruits. Their vodkas are slow filtered ten times through charcoal and crushed volcanic rock and then aged slightly in oak. For this Green Chile version, however, they had to reach outside of Oregon, to Hatch, New Mexico. As the distillery says, it tastes like their Pepper Vodka “went on a flavor adventure, packing the extra punch of the legendary Hatch Chile; foodie gold, grown only in Hatch, New Mexico.”
