Located in Guagnano, Lecce, in Puglia, this winery was founded by Lucio Leuci in 1924; it is today run by his two grandsons, Francesco and Lucio, who are devoted to producing high-quality wines that reflect all the characteristics of their region. Their 75 acres are planted mostly to Negroamaro, the stalwart red grape of Puglia, with small amounts of Montepulciano, Primitivo, and Chardonnay. In 2013 the family made the decision to devote a small but careful selection of estate-grown grapes to the production of Kosher for Passover wines, and “Idume” is one of the results of that decision. It is a classic version of a Salice Salentino, a blend of Cabernet and Negroamaro; with notes of red fruits and wild herbs on the nose and palate, it is it is a warm, enveloping, and well-balanced red with the characteristic body and structure of both varietals. Kosher for Passover and Mevushal.
