The baobab tree is a strange looking tree that grows in low-lying areas throughout the African continent. Perhaps because of its potential age (it may live to be 5,000 years old) it is known as the tree of life. How appropriate, then, that the folks at the Midlands Distillery in KwaZulu-Natal, in South Africa, should choose to make botanicals plucked from this tree part of the defining character of this classic dry gin. Done entirely in copper stills, this is classic dry gin with an African twist: The infusion of Zambian Baobab, juniper berries, coriander, rosemary, cinnamon and coarse salt gives it a bold burst of fresh African citrus.
