Located a bit more than twenty miles south of Strasbourg on the Route du Vin d'Alsace, this is a fine estate founded in 1896 by the Willm family; today they produce a wide selection of top flight Alsace wines as well as a range of classic eaux-de-vie, including this kirsch. This is a clear fruit brandy traditionally made from the double distillation of Morello cherries, a dark-colored sour cherry, and fermented whole with their pits. More than ten pounds of cherries go into the making of a half-bottle of Kirsch. Fine quality Kirsch such as the Willm is dry and refined with flavors of cherry and bitter almond.
