Tomas Garcia is one of three labels produced by Bodega Perez Barquero which dates from 1905 but whose modern renaissance began in 1985 when it was acquired by the current owner, Rafael Cordoba Garcia. The bodega has since increased in both prominence and quality, producing some of the best wines in the region. Today Perez Barquero owns some 500 acres of vineyard land in the two finest subzones of the area, Moriles Alto and Sierra de Montilla, which supply grapes for nearly half of the winery’s production. Until very recently the Tomas Garcia line was available only in Spain. This is a dessert-level Montilla made from 100% dried Pedro Ximenez grapes. It is dark mahogany in color, with aromas and flavors of dates, honey, raisins and figs and is thick, warm, and very persistent on the palate.
