ALSO NEW AND NOTEWORTHY Royal Oporto 2008 LBV Porto @ $16.99 A fine example of the LBV category, with all the intensity and much of the flavor of vintage Port but in an approachable style and made by one of the great companies in Porto, full and dark with flavors of chocolate, plum and dried figs Churchill’s Crusted Port Bottled 2004 @ $31.99 A blend of different vintages bottled young enough that it throws a sediment, here an intoxicating mélange of dark smoky flavors like anise and cinnamon Catskill Provisions Honey Whiskey @ $42.99 Made from a mash of 80% rye and 20% barley infused with raw wildflower honey, with a warm, spicy aroma that gives way to notes of sweet citrus, mellow honey and wildflowers on the palate Dereszla 2007 Tokai 5 Puttonyos @ $67.99 The classic dessert wine from Hungary, generous yet tightly focused, with an abundance of vanilla bean, mace and other exotic spices that emerge on the long finish Vajra NV Barolo Chinato @ $72.99 a fortified Barolo that has been infused with herbs and spices (mainly quinine) and aged in stainless steel, only mildly sweet with a distinct bitter edge on the palate |
