Château du Grand Bos is located in Castres, in a part of the Graves appellation where one finds some of the oldest Bordeaux vineyards dating from 2,000 years ago. The Château is listed as a leading estate in its commune in editions of Cocks & Feret going back to 1868, but the property was in poor condition when Andre Vincent bought it in 1988. M. Vincent had sold his property in Saint Estephe, Chateau La Haye, with the idea of retiring but instead immediately set out to replant and restore the vineyard as well as the Château. Today there is a bit more than 47 acres planted to vines, mostly red, with some of the vines being between forty and fifty years old. The wine is a blend of almost equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot added in; extremely smooth on the attck, it demonstrates great richness, aromatic complexity, and a sound structure.
